Oil on board Painting i'm thinking of putting into the flight of the earls festival in Donegal.
In 1607 a group of Ireland's noble elite left their land and people to find refuge and seek assistance for their cause in Europe. Their departure became known as the Flight of the Earls and would cause a ripple through history that would last to present day. The Flight of the Earls marked the end of an ancient Gaelic Order and made way for the Plantation of Ulster. It also became a key event in the establishment of the Irish Diaspora across the globe.
The Earls by *garybonner is without doubt one of the best oil paintings I've seen around lately, everything about it is perfect. Well Done! (

Stunning work. The details in the dress is just lovely and the dreary background and the position of the two figures gave off a sense of sadness and foreboding. Then I read your artists comments and the composition of the painting made sense.
Great work!
